EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Technique, a gentle yet powerful mind-body practice that involves tapping with your fingers on acupuncture points while focusing on thoughts, feelings and beliefs that are causing an issue, in order to lessen their impact.
The technique can support the shedding of old perspectives to newer, more helpful thinking and behaviour as well as providing significant relief. Scientific research has shown how the brain’s alarm system the amygdala actually calms as a result of this process.
It can be likened to peeling back an onion skin, the layers of superficial but strong emotions are gradually discarded to get to the core of an issue, allowing it to be understood more clearly, acknowledged and released.
The technique is useful for letting go of long-held patterns of behaviour or thinking as well as reducing the intensity of feelings and emotions you’re experiencing right now, so you can act rather than react.
